This is an exciting week because, after many months of waiting, there is FINALLY a new update to the fluoride lawsuit…let’s discuss!
1. New development in the federal lawsuit involving water fluoridation 💧⚖️
To recap, the case has been on hold since the judge asked for the public release of the National Toxicology Program’s multi-year systemic review of fluoride’s impact on the developing brain. The public will finally be able to see this data which was previously blocked from being published by US Health and Human Services (HHS) last year. March 15 is the release date. Stay tuned—I’ll be dissecting the report for everyone as soon as it’s released.
2. Fluoride causes brain damage, but who cares? 🧠💧
I think it’s easy for us to get cold to this fact, which is well-studied. But what specifically in the brain is being affected? According to these two studies, which I’ll link below—memory and learning. Holy. Shit. That gave me pause. It’s one thing to say, “oh well, who cares about IQ” and quite another to realize that fluoride is damaging our memory and learning—something so innately tied to our humanity.

3. New study: Hypothyroidism and fluoride exposure during pregnancy 🤰🏽💧
Since the 1930s, fluoride has been used to treat overactive thyroid or hyperthyroidism. According to Meaghan Hall, lead author of the study, it may interfere with certain enzymes and iodine absorption, which is essential for producing thyroid hormones. “The findings are concerning because hypothyroidism is a known cause of brain-based disorders in children,” she says.

4. If you have questions about tongue tie release, watch this 😛
We had a FANTASTIC and very informative Q&A on Instagram about tongue-tie releases in adults led by Jacqueline Carcaramo, RDH. If you missed it, you can watch the whole thing by going to @askthedentist on Instagram and tapping on the Highlight named “Tongue Tie.” Enjoy, and don’t be surprised if it spurs you to book a consultation for your own tongue tie release once you’re finished watching.
Hope you have a wonderful week,
P.S. The water filter I use is this one. This is the best, easiest, cheapest way to filter one of the worst neurotoxins out of our water. I use mine every day.
