If you’ve ever wondered whether you can actually reverse a cavity, the answer is yes—sometimes…
Reversing a cavity is not about brushing harder or even adding another dental appointment. It’s about supporting your body’s own defenses: saliva, the remineralization process, and your oral microbiome.
Here’s what I do—and what I recommend to my patients, family, and friends. Consider this your ultimate cavity reversal guide.
The 3 Supplements I Never Skip
Even with a nutritious diet, I still supplement:
Magnesium – Boosts saliva, activates vitamin D, and lowers stress
→ Here’s the one I take
Vitamin D3 + K2 – Critical for remineralization, and healthy saliva
→ Here’s the one I take
Vitamin C – Supports gum healing, collagen, and inflammation control
→ Here’s the one I take
You can’t outbrush (or outfloss) a bad diet!
The right foods rebuild enamel and fuel your oral microbiome.
Here’s what’s in my kitchen every week:
- Calcium – Sardines (with bones), cheese, greens
- D + K2 – Egg yolks, liver pâté, grass-fed butter
- Magnesium – Pumpkin seeds, spinach
- Vitamin A – Liver, orange veggies
- Vitamin C – Citrus, bell peppers
- Zinc – Oysters, legumes, beef
- Collagen – Bone broth, stews
- Probiotics – Sauerkraut, kimchi, plain yogurt
Stop Grazing, Start Healing
Your saliva can’t protect your enamel if you’re snacking all day.
- Eat 2–3 solid meals per day
- Rinse with water after eating
- Avoid sticky carbs like crackers or granola bars
- If you eat sweets, do it with meals—not between
- Wait 30-45 minutes after acidic foods before brushing
Your saliva needs time to buffer the acid attack.
Your Secret Weapon: Saliva
This is what remineralizes enamel. But it only works if you support it.
- Drink 2.5–3.5L of water daily
- Breathe through your nose—not your mouth
- Review medications that cause dry mouth
- Manage stress (it wrecks saliva flow)
- Chew xylitol gum
- Mouth tape at night to stay closed and protected
My Nightly Oral Care Routine
This is what I use:
- Toothpaste with prebiotics, xylitol, hydroxyapatite → like Fygg
- Floss every evening
- Brush twice daily with soft or extra soft bristles
- Tongue scrape each morning
- Never use mouthwash
- Use circular motions—not back-and-forth sawing
- Try using your non-dominant hand—it stops overbrushing
Test Your Oral Microbiome
I encourage everyone to get their oral microbiome tested. You understand not only your risk for conditions like tooth decay, gum inflammation, bad breath, and gut dysbiosis, but also your body’s ability to produce nitric oxide. You’ll then receive personalized oral care and diet recommendations to balance your microbiome and improve your oral and overall health. Use code “DRB” for 10% off.
So, which of these will you try first? Reply and let me know. I’d love to hear what’s working for you.
