Crest Be Adventurous Mint Chocolate toothpaste immediately grabbed my attention since Crest announced the new flavor at the same time all the research was coming out that chocolate is good for your teeth — perhaps even better than fluoride.

Once studies came out proving chocolate’s benefits for warding off tooth decay, it seemed natural that a chocolate toothpaste should hit the market.

Looks like we’re still going to have to wait.

Sadly, Crest Be Adventurous Mint Chocolate toothpaste contains all of the flavor and no chocolate whatsoever.

This is such a lost opportunity!

Crest had the potential here to capitalize on an ingredient that’s been proven to be more effective that the much more dangerous alternative, fluoride, plus — it’s chocolate! What’s not to love about brushing your teeth with chocolate?

Crest says their Be Adventurous Mint Chocolate toothpaste wards off tooth decay, but they’re referring to sodium fluoride — the same ingredient found in original Crest and many another toothpastes.

I’m still waiting for a toothpaste containing real chocolate compounds to hit the market.

Until then, I guess I’m stuck with a minimum effective dose of one 75%-85% dark chocolate bar once per day…you know, just to make sure I’m really protecting my teeth.

  1. If they would have had this toothpaste when I was growing up it would have saved me thousands in dental bills.
I hated to brush when I was a kid. Hated the taste of Colgate; very harsh. That’s all my dad would buy. With this chocolate, I find myself brushing at least twice a day vs once week in the old days. I just bought six more tubes on the internet as I can’t find it in stores…may be discoing it……..I love the taste and am tempted to swallow.

  2. I agree. If I had had this toothpaste as a kid I would have brushed more often. The flavor is close to mint chocolate chip ice cream, although the texture is more gritty. I do hope they improve on it by using real chocolate! ? I really like this flavor. My hubby is pleasantly surprised with the lime mint. He expected to like it the least, but it is his second favorite after the mint chocolate.
